I'd like to believe that no other touch can heal best, than another human being's touch. That is precisely the reason why I believe that massages have a unique quality of bringing relaxation and relief. One of the well-known types of massages is probably the reflexology massage.

Reflexology massage is an ancient healing technique, whose origins stem from Asia. It is a massage that is largely based on the belief that there are "pressure points" located in the hands and feet that are connected to the rest of the body and even to major organs and internal organs. This massage's debut in the West is attributed to Dr. William Fitzgerald. Throughout Dr. Fitzgerald's years of practice, he has observed, while working on his patient's feet, that the pressures he applied in certain parts of the feet have significantly affected other parts of the body of the patient. From this novel theory, Dr. Fitzgerald began devising a crude reflexology chart, which maps the hands and feet out in ten vertical zones. These zones were based on the reflexes of the hands and feet, as noted by the body's reaction when pressure was applied to that point.

Fast forward to the present times, reflexology is now a standard fixture in the massage therapy industry and has been both a business venture and a lucrative career to its practitioners. The practice is widely known to have positive health effects, which include the improvement of circulation, healthy detoxification, and the relief of muscular tension. Reflexology massage is said to be particularly effective in relieving back pain, arthritis, migraines, and is even said to reduce infertility.

And since reflexology massage is a very specific type of massage, a therapist needs to have proper information and knowledge of the techniques. This is not a technique that can stand with knowledge of the chart alone. Thus, it is advised, to any serious therapist looking to learn this special type of massage, to attend a training course. After all, "Practice without Theory is blind, Theory without practice is impotent." Massage therapy schools are the right places to go to if practice and theory are essential to you.

And a solid background in reflexology massage is a great step in any career in the massage therapy industry. With the increase in its popularity, a massage career looks bright. And a career backed with proper training in this particular massage looks even brighter.

Here in Hawaii, most reflexology massage training courses run for 14 hours or so. To find a good massage school, it is best to read reviews, make a list of school options, and call them up and ask them questions.

For a healing art as old as this to have lasted the sands of time, massage has rightly proven that it is a potent way of bringing the body ease and relief. And for reflexology massage to be potent healing art that it is then and today only means to prove a theory right: no touch can heal best, like that of a humans touch.
