Our Solar System is a system, which is made up of our Sun, which is the power source that gives life to Earth, and allows the Solar System to function. There is our Sun, and 9 planets.
Fact: The name of our solar system is the Solar System.
The planets in our Solar System are (in this order) - Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. As a note, Pluto is not really classed as a planet, but rather as a dwarf planet, as it is so small.
* Inner And Outer Planets
Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars make up the inner planets. These are planets which are solid.
Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto make up the outer planets. The outer planets are characteristic of being a gas based planet. Some such as Jupiter are many times larger than Earth. In fact if you took all the planets, and crunched them together, and then times it by 2, you would have the size of Jupiter!
Something to note, is that Pluto is not gas. As it is so far away, it is like a barren rock. It is so small, and far away that most telescopes can't see it!

If we look out of our Solar System, we will find many other systems which make up our Milky Way galaxy. And the universe is made up of a countless number of these galaxies. We live in a vase universe of beauty and splendor.
