When I started out to write and sell an eBook I did not realize that I would have to learn so much about internet marketing. I wanted to be an author, not an internet marketer. But I soon realized that in order to sell my eBook successfully online, I would have to wear more than one hat. So I began to learn about everything that was needed to write and sell an eBook on the internet. Along the way I became a marketer and a business person. Not so much because I wanted to, but because I had to. And finally, after a year of switching back and forth from my left brain to my right, I am now able to write and sell my writing online, making quite a good living in the process. Here are some things I learned along the way that will help you as you make your way through the process of online writing and internet marketing.

Learn how to use all of the internet marketing tools you will need in your business before outsourcing the work to others. This includes learning how to set up a blog, uploading your eBook to a page on your website, using your shopping cart, creating an opt-in box on your website or blog, setting up a sequence of autoresponder messages, and more. If you understand the process thoroughly, you will be able to explain exactly what you want someone else to do when you hire them to assist you in your business.

Set time aside each day to do nothing else but write. In order to be creative you will need uninterrupted periods of time in which to create an eBook and other writing. You will not want to think about technology or business during this writing time. You may even decide to have a separate area of your house, a special workplace, where you will do all of your writing. That way you will not be distracted by email or anything else required by your internet business.

So, write your eBook and enjoy the writing process. Realize that all authors must become business people to some degree, and eBook authors are no different. As you work your way through the maze of internet marketing, keep your goal in mind. Soon you will have the right people assisting you with the part of the business you do not enjoy, and knowing that you have learned the skills needed along the way will make your eBook writing success even more joyous and prosperous.
